I'm an artist and musician, living and working in the middle of the desert.

I am not the former Governor of North Carolina. He's a different guy.

The "B" stands for "Bryan".

I've shown my work in galleries, spaces and venues all over Phoenix and Tempe, including Thought Crime Gallery, Trunk Space, The Alwun House, ReZurrection Gallery, EJoy, Kontrive, Wet Paint, Mill's End, Lucky Dragon, Bash on Ash, and many others. Half of them don't exist anymore. Some were torn down to make room for for vacant lots, because we just don't have enough of them here in Arizona. Others became bedroom furniture showrooms and urgent care facilities.

I used to illustrate greeting cards. That was a fun job. I paint, but I'm also trained in graphic design. That training really comes in handy for when I'm making signs for yard sales and lost dogs. I don't usually seek commercial art jobs. I do album covers and advertisements when I'm asked, but that's about it.

I play the flute.

I've been in a lot of bands, but I've rarely played the flute in any of them. I like experimental electronic music. I monitor and record sounds from my shortwave radios, scanners, and CB for use in various projects. The ionosphere is my instrument of choice, although I do enjoy listening to the plasma ejections in Jupiter's magnetosphere. I am one half of the art/noise duo, CSOTYS.

I like all kinds of music. My favorites are Current 93, Death in June, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, Boyd Rice, Psychic TV and many others. I'm too lazy to type out the rest of them. You get the idea. To be honest, while I adore Apocalyptic Folk and noisy electronica, I'm very fond of easy listening classics. If you were to ask me what my current favorite type of music is, I'd have to say that I really like orchestral renditions of popular tunes from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Elevator music, basically. I'd love to play the flute in an instrumental Linda Ronstadt cover band.

I collect rocks. Isn't that interesting? I know, it's not. But it's my favorite thing to do in my spare time, so I figured I should mention it.

Some of you know me as the guy who hides his paintings throughout the city of Tempe and challenges fellow residents to find them. I have a website specifically for that project. You can play along, if you like. Go to TempeArt.com for more information.
